What to Expect at Your First Laser Hair Removal Session
June 22, 2026 · 5 min read

From shaving beforehand to aftercare, here is how a first laser appointment usually goes.
Before you arrive
Shave the area about 24 hours before, and avoid waxing, plucking, self-tanner, and intentional sun exposure in the weeks prior.
During the session
You will wear protective eyewear. Settings are selected based on your skin and hair assessment, and cooling is used to support comfort.
Afterwards
Mild redness is common and usually settles within hours. Daily SPF on treated areas is important, and shaving between sessions is fine.
